Personal update on my weight loss program: Nothing is perfect in this world and I was doing pretty well with my increased exercise, no high glycemic carbs, losing weight every few days. Then I hurt my back over the Thanksgiving weekend. So I was unable to exercise even for 20 minutes a day. I was able to walk some of the days but I did stick to the no sugar, slow carb regimen. “No carb” is not a correct way to state it. It’s more like “slow carb.” I eat plenty of carbs but they come in the form of black beans, lentils and some fruits like apples, no bread, no rice, no pasta, very limited alcohol.

One great thing was that my weight scale needed new batteries so I didn’t weigh myself for more than a week. These things can become obsessive!  Anyway, I am down just a tad over 12 lbs now. 166 lbs. This is only one lb over the top end of the recommended BMI healthy weight. My goal is to get to 162 lbs by January 8th. That’s the day I get my next blood test. This is my own personal clinical experiment with slow carb lifestyle and keeping up with my heart health supplement regimen. I am taking:

  • Niacin
  • Omega-3
  • Fiber
  • Vitamin K-2
  • Nattokinase
  • Epicor
  • L-Glutathione

I drink a coffee with stevia each morning. I use half decaf/ half regular. Breakfast: egg with spinach, green and red peppers, onions. Lunch:protein smoothie with banana, kale, super greens, peanut butter; sounds weird but is really good! Snack: almonds and raisins. Dinner: salmon or chicken with vegetables, sometimes a veggie burger with broccoli and romaine-spinach salad, or Indian dal(lentils) with plenty of carrots, onions and spinach.  If I get stuck out somewhere I will go for an Atkins bar for a snack, salad bar or ceasar salad with grilled chicken.  Portion control is key. Just remember you can use a six inch plate instead of a 12 inch plate. Eat slowly and drink a lot of water.  That spare tire I was collecting is gone. My clothes fit better, that’s for sure.  Next update will be after the blood test in January. Right now, I have dropped 6.7% of my body weight. I wish I could say that was all fat but since I fell off my exercise regimen due to injury, I hesitate to make that clain.

Have a Merry Christmas.
