My name is Garey Simmons. I founded the company Optimal Health Bridge.

This vitamin and supplement business isn’t just a business for me.

In 2005 I was sickly.

I was overweight.

It seemed I was allergic to just about everything, including people.

I had heart problems. I had joint problems. I didn’t think I could exercise.

I needed a change. I needed to change.

However, my story IS NOT about radical, drastic change.

It’s about a few small steps that set me on a completely different trajectory.

I was explaining to my daughter that a few errant decisions can set you on a completely different course. Naturally, since she is my daughter, I don’t think she can hear me. She’s 18. So I am going to do the chinese water torture method and continuously drip on her until she wakes up one day and says, “Dad, I just realized…” Then I will say, “Hurray!”

So what changed for me?

In 2005, my doctor observed my blood numbers, gave me a stiff warning and a pharmaceutical prescription. Bah, humbug was my attitude. I hadn’t taken a drug in 30 years, why start now?

But, I heard a radio commercial. I believed what the man said. I dialed the number and ordered a powerful Omega-3 supplement.

It wasn’t free. It wasn’t cheap.

But I figured it was cheaper than having to tip the ambulance driver on the way to the hospital. It would be cheaper than tipping the nurse’s aid who hooks me up to the heart monitoring equipment. Even with insurance, how can I pay my mortgage if I am laid up in the hospital?

Who wants to vacation in a hospital anyway? I’d rather go to the Caribbean! Or visit a national park or a local lake or beach!

Who can afford present day medical care? Not I, said the little red hen.

But seriously regardless of who is paying the bill, who really wants the pain of a heart attack?

Who wants to gamble on recovering from a stroke?

So here is what I did: for 90 days, I spent 20 seconds, twice a day taking some Omega-3 capsules.

Heck, I spend more time brushing my teeth. So it really wasn’t some huge lifestyle shift!

Basically, it was a very small step that became a gateway activity;  Fancy way of saying, that it opened the door  to the world of super nutrition and supplementation, getting to know my body and learning some tidbits to make the gradual, not radical, changes I needed.

Really it was a shortcut to my new and desperate goal of not dying a premature death!

In 90 days, I was retested and the doctor congratulated me on taking her prescription drug. 😆  Ha.  Surprise! I sheepishly told her, that I hadn’t taken it.

Instead, I started on a powerful omega-3 supplement. She said, “Well, keep doing what you are doing.”

Can’t argue with results. The next small step…

      Hi Donna,

Thanks for the feedback. I can only share what I observe. It’s actually fun to have a partner and challenge one another. I send a text friends when I complete my interval training, that way, I am in the constant feedback loop. Let me know if you have and questions. Love to help.
